Busy, busy

This week I have been extremely busy with school, Tower and sports because of this I haven't had much time to work on the app. Although I haven't had much time to work on it I did research some app developing companies and found one called MichiganLabs. They have created apps for different banks and they look like they would be a good choice. Yet I am still looking for other companies so then I can get a variety of quotes for how much it would cost.

I also think it would be more realistic to move my goal for finding a developer back to Christmas. This gives me more time to find investors and gather the money and also I can go more in depth with my search for a developer. I will also be starting to sketch out designs for the app.

The blueprints

I've been researching a way to fund my project and discovered  a method called "Crowd sourcing". Crowd sourcing is where you get a handful of investors to incvest in your idea with a small amount of money anywhere from $10-$500. But if the idea doesn't work out then you don't have to pay them back because they were taking the risk by investing in it. This will help me get enough money to hire a developer and cover the costs of the app. Also I am going to meet with different app developers to get a quote on how much it will cost to produce the app. Once I get a quote I can find out how much money I will need to earn from crowd sourcing.

Throughout next week I will be looking for developers that are wiling to help me create the app. I hope to meet with them and several other companies in the weeks to come. Hopefully by the end of November I will find a company and will have began crowd sourcing. Also, I am going to contact Hannah's aunt to talk to her about the process she went through creating her app. My dad also agreed to help me with crowd sourcing and will be essentially another mentor to me.

Right now I am also sketching some designs for the layout of the app. I am going to have to find a designer along with a developer. That will add to my costs but hopefully the developer will have designers that they worked with so it will be fairly easy to find one.

The only thing I am worried about is getting the money to crowd source. I just hope that I can find enough investors to pay for the costs of the app. Here is a link that explains crowd sourcing more in depth:

An intricate process

This past week I have been researching the costs of creating an app and have discovered that it is very expensive and can cost up to $10,000. Also for the app I want to develop, it is much more intricate than a simple app. Because of this I might have to hire a developer in order to create it or find a developer that is willing to help me. I think I am going to start out by learning the steps to create a basic app while I am trying to find out the costs and who I can have help me besides my mentor.

This link is one of the things I found about the costs of developing an app. For now I am just going to start out by creating a simple app and then seeing if I can work up to the did I wear that? App.

I finally narrowed down my ideas for my 20 time project to one and decided to create an app. Right now I am thinking of calling it "Did I wear that?". It will be an app where you take a picture of all of your clothing, under the categories shirts, sweaters, tank tops, pants, shorts and then you can choose what type of outfit you want to wear such as "tank top and shorts". The app will then randomly select a tank top and shorts. If you don't like it you can hit "shuffle" and it will find another combination. It will be essentially like a virtual closet. When you like a combination, you can click "wear this" and it will save in your calendar when you wore it in order to prevent you from outfit repeating.

I first got the idea when one morning I was unable to find anything that matched and that I haven't worn. I thought, " how great would it be to have an app where you could track when you wore things and find new outfits from your closet and create different combinations?". That is where the idea began. Also how cool would It be to learn how to create an app? Even though I suspect it will be very difficult I am excited to challenge myself and see if I can do it.

I'm going to start by contacting a friend of my dad's who is very tech savvy and possibly Hannah's aunt who has experience creating an app.
